Game Process
Preliminary Concept and Research
(September 2023)
As a Chinese adoptee during the One-Child Policy, I believed it was important to create a game about life of an adoptee. I wanted to explore my culture as well as the unique challenges that all Chinese adoptees face. I began with my preliminary research and initial constraints for the game.
Game Ideas and Idea Selection
(October 2023)
At this point, I created 6 possible ideas for my game. Ultimately, I decided to make prototype builds of idea 1 and idea 5.

Prototyping
(November 2023)
After prototyping and much iteration, I decided to pursue idea 5, focusing on the process of learning about a culture so that it may be passed down to others.
Current Build
(Present)
My game has evolved into a game about Chinese culture as a whole and learning about the history and legends, traditions, food, and clothing of Chinese New Year. The game emphasizes the importance of culture and the depth it has. I am currently in the final stages of refining my game. I hope to publish this game in the near future.
